The Disability Theatre Workshop

In April 4, 5, and 6 the Theatre Arts Department will present a Disability Theatre Workshop, “Beyond Victims and Villains: Contemporary Plays by Disabled Playwrights.” This 3-day special event is co-sponsored by the Theatre Arts Department, Institute for Disability Studies, and Disability Programs Resource Center and is directed by visiting scholar/artist Dr. Victoria Lewis, Associate Professor at the Theatre Arts Department, University of Redlands, California.

This interdisciplinary theatre workshop brings together students from theatre, disability studies and the campus at large to explore the impact of disability civil rights and culture on the American stage. The workshop will include theatre exercises, media analysis, scene studies and readings from contemporary plays by disabled playwrights.
